FAQ

EE&G Restoration has the capability to perform the restoration portion of the process. You are welcome to, but not obligated to hire us to perform those repairs. It will be your responsibility to hire a general contractor if you choose to do so.

It is common to apply an antimicrobial agent to kill the present microorganisms and inhibiting their growth. Any product used on your residence will be supplied with an MSDS if requested. These products are considered relatively non-toxic and due to the variety available many are environmental friendly.

It is vital that all equipment remains on for the entire mitigation process to be performed properly as well as in a timely manner. Though we understand the loud noise and conditions it causes in the home it is important that all equipment is powered to provide optimal results. Turning off equipment will only increase the drying time as well secondary damage such as microbial growth. Depending on the conditions that are calculated outside and inside the home, it will be recommended at that time whether it will help to open windows or doors.

We must frequently and closely monitor the equipment and progress of materials drying which needs to be completed on a daily occurrence. Access will need to be provided to complete the drying out process which may include moving, adding, or remove equipment; and checking humidity and temperature readings.

Every water loss is different due to there are many variables that dictate this time frame such as temperature, humidity, amount of saturation, type of materials affected and when the damage occurred. Materials and Equipment will be constantly monitored to ensure the drying process is progressing to normal conditions. Typically, the dry out process will take on average three days, but could take longer.

All pricing is through the industries standard Xactimate estimating software which is in within the guidelines and expectations of insurance adjusters. This will eliminate any potential conflicts regarding the price-list as it is generated by Xactimate estimating software.

Water is classified into 3 categories to identify if the source of water contains a potential threat to humans. i. CAT 1 Water- Refers to a source of water that does not pose a hazard if consumed by humans. This often refers to leak in water pipes or another clean source of water, but if this water source becomes in contact with other materials (walls, flooring, decking) it has a potential to become contaminated with the soils within those materials. Once this occurs it will progress to the following category. ii. CAT 2- Refers to a source of water that contains some degree of contamination that may cause an illness if consumed by humans. iii. CAT 3- Refers to source of water that is grossly contaminated that will cause death or serious illness if consumed by humans. All sewage and most natural disasters are considered CAT 3.

It is vital to start the drying process in the first 24 hours or less of a water loss as microbial growth can begin to germinate after that time period. EE&G Restoration has 24/7 emergency response team that is equipped to handle any water loss, any time.

Mitigation refers to the necessary process to prevent further water damage from occurring after a water loss. Most commonly referred to the drying process. b. Restoration refers to the necessary work performed to restore your home back to the normal conditions prior to a water loss. Most commonly referred to pre-loss condition.

The IICRC is a certification and standard-setting non-profit organization for the inspection, cleaning and restoration industries. The IICRC also ensures that when consumers hire a clean trust-Certified Firm or technician, they have hired experts who will provide reasonable assurance that work will be completed in accordance with the industry’s “standard of care.”

Post remediation sampling is important to assess the effectiveness of the remediation. Just FYI: If the moisture problem is not addressed and corrected, the mold More than Likely WILL return. Before the structure can be repaired, all building materials need to be at normal moisture levels.

Condition 1: contents with normal or typical mold levels b. Condition 2: contaminated with settled spores, but no active growth. HEPA vacuuming and/or damp wiping would be option for cleaning. Soft goods such as linens and upholstered furniture could be HEPA vacuumed first then cleaned using the appropriate cleaning method for that item. c. Condition 3: contents contaminated with visible or active mold growth. Soft or fabric goods would need to be discarded. Due to staining, discoloration or physical damage, cloth and linens may have to be discarded.

No. Prior to cleaning the contents they will be categorized by their composition and level of contamination they contain. This will determine how and if the contents can be cleaned.

To help avoid issues of re-contamination, the cleaning of the HVAC system is conducted as well should take place after remediation but before post remediation environmental sampling. This typically is cleaned while the structure is not occupied.

After cleanup is complete a negative air machine is utilized such as an air scrubber. HEPA air scrubbers are capable of removing 99.97% of dry particulate down to 0.3 micron. Most of all mold spores are greater than 1.0 micron size. It is critical that the machine runs continuous unless instructed otherwise to obtain optimal results.

The first step in the cleaning process is to HEPA vacuum everything including walls, ceiling, floors and cabinets (inside and out) and contents. b. Damp wipe all surfaces- specific products used per customer and depending on surfaces(porous, non-porous, semi-porous, etc) c. HEPA vacuum all surfaces again d. Damp wipe all surfaces again e. Final HEPA vacuum all surfaces.

Local or mini containments are used for “moderate levels” of fungal growth visible or suspected. This is done so there is less risk of cross contamination into other spaces within the home.

Condition 1- normal mold spore type and counts.
Condition 2- contaminated with settled spores (viable or nonviable) but does not have to be active growth.
Condition 3- affected areas are visible and/or active growth of surfaces is present.

The areas are identified by conditions not square footage: Condition 1, 2 and 3.

The best way to prevent mold growth is to keep materials dry and if they get wet to dry them as quickly as possible.
